Having Fun, Helping Kids
Helping children achieve success in life is important to American Fidelity. Having fun, while helping children, is really just icing on the cake.
In addition to her daily duties as an actuary here at American Fidelity, Colleague Renee Bauer serves on the Oklahoma City Area Resource Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), where she serves as the chairperson for Bowl For Kids’ Sake, one of the organization’s annual fundraisers.
“Bowl For Kids’ Sake allows Colleagues and their friends and family to have a good time for a good cause,” shared Renee. “Bowlers put together teams of five people, and each bowler is asked to raise $125. The more money a bowler raises, the more chances they have to win some amazing prizes. BBBS even offers a virtual bowling option for those people who want to assist but cannot attend a bowling session.”
Bowling sessions take place mid-April through early May, and Colleague Kim Sievert will coordinate American Fidelity’s bowling teams this year.
Over the past three years alone American Fidelity Colleagues in Oklahoma City have raised more than $17,000 through Bowl For Kids’ Sake to support the mentoring initiatives of BBBS.
“My husband Steve, who is also a Colleague, serves as a Big Brother,” said Renee. “His little brother KJ is like a member of our family, and I have seen firsthand how much their one-to-one mentoring relationship means to both of them. I enjoy knowing that my efforts and those of my Colleagues are making an impact on kids like KJ.”
So, who wants to bowl?
