AF Supports Community and Wellness and Celebrates Service

December 16, 2016 10:51 AM

On Wednesday about 50 American Fidelity Colleagues participated in the Jingle Jog. AF Colleagues donated more than 800 pounds of food to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and supported their wellness!

Yesterday we celebrated the dedicated service of our Colleagues who met a milestone year of service with American Fidelity this year at our annual Service Awards event.

Letting Go of Stress at Work

July 15, 2016 08:52 AM

Yesterday our Colleagues got to spend some time de-stressing right here at work. We offered free chair massages, a yoga class and brought in volunteers from Pets and People with dogs and cats looking for new homes. The animals were a huge hit with AF Colleagues!

AF Colleague Makes Healthy Changes 6/17/2016

June 17, 2016 07:43 AM

American Fidelity Customer Service Colleague Lisa Miner recently sent in her thanks to our on-site fitness trainers for their part in her new, healthy lifestyle.

“I wanted to personally thank you guys for my transformation,” Lisa said.

About a year ago Lisa took her health assessment through AF and that gave her the reality check she needed. She was overweight, had become pre-diabetic and had high blood pressure and high cholesterol putting her at risk for heart attack. She had to carry an emergency inhaler at all times as the weight gain had caused her asthma to worsen. As a single mom of three, she decided she couldn’t allow herself to continue on this path.

Lisa began her journey by reaching out to a fellow Colleague, Gracie. Gracie always helps other Colleagues plan workouts and supports them in following through. She suggested Lisa start with training sessions with trainer Tyler Powell. The sessions were hard, and she quit after about a month. But, Gracie didn’t let her alone. She continued asking how her workouts were and Lisa decided to keep going on her own. She got back in the gym using the workouts Tyler created for her. She also took advantage of the Eat Smart page of our intranet to come up with her own diet that her kids could enjoy as well.

When she started her journey, Lisa wanted to lose about 30 pounds and be able to keep up with her kids without feeling exhausted. She’s surpassed her goal and lost 41 pounds so far!

“I am well below the size I wanted to be and couldn’t be happier. I am no longer pre-diabetic, my blood pressure and cholesterol are healthy and I no longer have to carry my inhaler!”

Lisa’s current goal is to continue on her healthy path and to lose another 15 pounds. She plans to work on gaining strength and toning up. Her overall goal is to remain healthy and happy while teaching her kids that healthy eating and staying active can save and prolong your life.

I am so happy to say my life has done a 180 and I am the healthiest I have ever been. I am a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due, and without the tools and perseverance AF was able to give me, I wouldn’t have made it here today. So thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
