Today I’m ready to give blood and help save lives. American Fidelity partners with the Oklahoma Blood Institute five times throughout the year to provide an onsite blood drive for AFA Colleagues to donate without having to leave the office. AFA has been hosting blood drives since 1984 – what a great way to help Colleagues support the local blood supply. Those of us donating today are wearing jeans and AFA T-shirts. The OBI will give everyone who donates a T-shirt and a voucher for admission to the Oklahoma City Zoo for two people. I’m choosing to forgo the T-shirt and allow the OBI to make a monetary donation to the Global Blood Fund. In 2012, the Oklahoma Blood Institute recognized AFA as one of the top OKC metro drive sponsors with 480 donations. Want to know how much we donate today? Tomorrow is a blood drive day for AFA. We work with the Oklahoma Blood Institute to provide an onsite blood drive so our Colleagues can help save lives without having to leave the office. American Fidelity has been hosting blood drives with OBI since December of 1984, and we have gradually increased the number of drives each year. We currently host five blood drives each year. In 2012, the Oklahoma Blood Institute recognized American Fidelity as one of the top metro drive sponsors, coming in with 480 donations. This is just one more way we like to give back and serve the community.
Colleagues who donate may wear jeans and will be eligible to win prizes. The OBI will provide a lunch tote, health screenings and donor reward points for all those who donate. Donors may choose to have their gifts go toward the Global Blood Fund to improve safe blood supplies in the world’s poorest countries.
Tomorrow we are also making it easy for our Colleagues to join the bone marrow registry. We will have the opportunity to talk to a bone marrow registry coordinator at the blood drive and get signed up! Learn more about being on the bone marrow registry.
