Living Our Brand

March 14, 2016 06:06 AM

AF_NEW LOGO_600x210Now that you’ve heard about our new brand and seen our new logo, we want to share what our teams are doing to live the new American Fidelity brand.

Late last year Brand Champions were selected to represent each team in our Company. In February all Colleagues attended brand training and since then our Brand Champions have been conducting follow-up workshops. The workshops are designed to help each team come up with three measurable objectives they would like to meet that will help make things simpler for our Customers. Below are updates from a few areas.

Account Administration

“In our workshops we discussed how we can better serve our special Customers by living the new brand with our daily job functions,” said Brand Champion Shawna Sparks.

Discussions during their workshops included cross-training, being supportive and providing helpful feedback to each other and understanding that the end goal is delighting our Customers with each interaction as representatives of AF.

Customer Service

The Colleagues on floor 7 are doing their part to remain focused on the Customer by holding five workshops, and one of these is being held on a Saturday to ensure phone coverage is not compromised.

“The team is excited for what the different opinion brand means for the future of AF,” said Brand Champions Emily Fasnacht and Kari Geissler.

Enrollment Solutions

The team is currently in the process of conducting their brand workshops and have scheduled four sessions to keep the groups small and friendly.

“We have a number of items already that I believe will make our processes cleaner and quicker, becoming a benefit to our Customers,” said Brand Champion Charlotte Blest.

Disability, Flex, Medical and Production Control

Brand workshops have been held for these groups and they are focused on the Customer’s changing needs.

“Making sure there is a centralized spot for everyone to gather the same data for a Customer is part of not only standardizing guidelines, but also to make sure Customers are getting consistent information,” said Brand Champion Melissa Duggan.

These are updates from just a few of our teams. We are excited to provide a different opinion for our Customers! If you’d like to join our team, check out our job openings and learn about our hiring process

Colleagues Support the Arts

March 7, 2016 02:42 AM

Print It’s not enough to just be a great place to work; our Colleagues also want to ensure our community is a great place to live!

As a result, American Fidelity Colleagues are among the leaders in the community in supporting the arts in the Oklahoma City area. Each spring, we come together to support Allied Arts, which reaches more than 1 million residents in our community and directly impacts the lives of our children, the growth of our economy and the health of our communities.

As a leader in our community, American Fidelity is one of the largest contributors to the Allied Arts annual fundraising campaign. We are also one of the trailblazers in establishing worksite-based campaigns for the Allied Arts member agencies and have been recognized as one of the best models to follow when new organizations want to join the campaign.

The annual campaign provides a way for Colleagues to support Allied Arts through payroll deductions as well as raise funds in other ways. We’ve hosted painting parties, penny wars, fundraising challenges and more. Executives offer to take a cream pie in the face, all to raise money for Allied Arts.

In the coming weeks, Colleagues will have the opportunity to learn more about Allied Arts member agencies during an open house in which agencies will send representatives to American Fidelity to talk about their work. Let us know how you support the arts in your community!

Last week American Fidelity Colleagues donated blood at our blood drive right here at the office. AF partners with the Oklahoma Blood Institute five times a year to allow our Colleagues to easily and quickly donate. We’ve been hosting blood drives with OBI for 32 years!

On blood drive days Colleagues who donate may wear AF T-shirts to work and are entered in drawings for various prizes.

At AF we are dedicated to our Colleagues, Customers and our community. We are proud to have a group of Colleagues who care and strive to do their best to help.

Help make a difference by donating to the local blood supply. Visit www.obi.org to learn more.

Charity Day Helps Fellow Colleagues

February 1, 2016 05:56 AM

Chari-Tee Art Only Colleagues donate $2 per month to support a wide variety of charities in exchange for casual Fridays. The 2016 Charity Day program kicked off last week with donations to our Colleague Relief Fund.

In January, money was collected for a fund that helps Colleagues in need. Natural disasters, medical emergencies and other unexpected catastrophic events can create financial hardships for our Colleagues.

The fund, administered by the Communities Foundation of Oklahoma, is designed to provide a safety net for Colleagues experiencing those challenges.

The Colleague Relief Fund was established after the devastating 2013 tornadoes in the Oklahoma City metro area. Several Colleagues’ homes were damaged and destroyed in the storm, and the fund helped them pay deductibles and expenses not covered by insurance.

To date, more than 20 Colleagues have received more than $30,000 to help them through difficult times.

Each month, Colleagues will donate to a different organization. The groups are nominated by Colleagues who support their efforts and selected by random drawing. Donations are made by payroll deduction to make supporting the program even easier.

The charity day program is just one way that American Fidelity makes it easy for Colleagues to support their favorite non-profit organizations.

What are some unique ways that you give to charity?

AF’s Holiday Coloring Contest

Elijah Whitley The holiday season is now in the rearview mirror, but it wasn’t all too long ago that the halls of American Fidelity were decked with the colorful creations of our Colleagues’ kids. Celebrating Service at AF

December 14, 2015 04:16 AM

service awards team Did you know that the average tenure of an American Fidelity Colleague is more than 10 years? We celebrate our Colleagues who choose to stay with us at their 3, 5, 10, 15 plus years of service (in increments of five years) anniversaries each December. Just last week we held our annual Service Awards. Colleagues with three and five years of service were recognized at department presentations in the morning and those with 10, 15, 20 or more years of service were invited to attend the Service Awards luncheon at the Skirvin Hilton in Oklahoma City. We had almost 300 Colleagues in attendance, representing more than 7,000 years of service to our Company. Check out our job openings and apply to join our team!

Book Clubs at American Fidelity

December 7, 2015 04:15 AM

books We’re always looking for ways to bring our Colleagues together while simultaneously promoting a well-balanced lifestyle, which is why we’re thrilled about the Colleague-lead book clubs gaining popularity at American Fidelity. A few dedicated book worms are gathering monthly with fellow literature-loving Colleagues to discuss books that inspire, educate and entertain. The 2nd Thursday Book Club discusses all sorts of books including science fiction, classics, nonfiction and popular fiction. Some of the books the club has read this year include “House Rules” by Jodi Piccoult, “Wild” by Cheryl Strayed and “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. Another book club gaining popularity with the halls of AF is  The New York Best Sellers Book Club, which gets together the first Wednesday of each month. The club reads a wide variety of best sellers of all genres. Each meeting the group picks a book for the next meeting but also discusses personal favorites. We also encourage our Colleagues to read by hosting the Books are Fun book fair a few times throughout the year at our Home Office. Would you like to work for American Fidelity? Check out our OKC Home Office openings and our field sales positions.

Colleagues Pause to Give Thanks

November 25, 2015 03:35 AM

20151123_121018 As the holiday season kicks off at American Fidelity and around the country, our Colleagues are taking the opportunity to give thanks with their teams, departments and divisions. Several groups got together to share a meal and celebrate the accomplishments for the year. The Enterprise Business Services group chose to not only get together and celebrate the holiday, they also took donations to benefit families outside the American Fidelity group. The team donated enough to provide Thanksgiving baskets to three families through the Salvation Army. Colleagues in Strategic Development, Strategic Alliances and Life divisions all came together as a large group to spend time with each other and build camaraderie by sharing a meal. Members of our Policy Administration team have been spending countless hours together working on their large project, but they took some time out to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. Our Corporate and Human Resources (CHR) division combined a quarterly meeting with a Thanksgiving meal. In addition to talking about goals and hearing about ongoing projects in another division, CHR Colleagues shared a turkey dinner, and several brought sweet treats to share with the team. These are just a few examples of how teams across the Company are celebrating the season. Happy Thanksgiving!
