What’s Happening at AFA I Thunder Up

V XCVFGB One thing I know about American Fidelity and our Colleagues is that we love our Oklahoma City Thunder. We love to watch them play and are proud to support our local community with them.

To show our support during the NBA playoffs, we get to wear jeans and Thunder gear on home playoff game days. Walking through the building, it never fails I always see multiple people showing their support for our Thunder basketball team. The Thunder Merchandise Truck is scheduled to come onsite so we can buy new gear to support the team.

Not only do we show our support by donning our Thunder gear, we also partner with the team on various community efforts. At each regular home game throughout the season, AFA sponsors the Thunder Teacher of the Game. One lucky Oklahoma teacher is recognized at each home game for their outstanding efforts in the classroom.

American Fidelity also presents the Thunder Read to Achieve program. This program strives to teach students in grades K-12 the importance of literacy and to love reading.

Have you heard of the Rolling Thunder Book Bus? Yep, that’s sponsored by us! The Book Bus is a converted school bus that travels to schools, community centers, museums, parks and other sites to promote reading and literacy. Each student who visits the bus gets to pick a free book. Typically a couple of players or Thunder girls will accompany the bus, greet the children and help them choose a book to encourage a love of reading.

Reading Time-Outs are the second component of the Read to Achieve program. Special Thunder guests – players, Thunder girls and broadcasters – visit schools and community centers to read to children and talk to them about the importance of learning to read.

American Fidelity is dedicated to the community and what better way to give our support than by partnering with our local NBA team! How do you support the OKC Thunder? How about your local community?
