Telecommuting: A Win-Win for AFA

Brrr. It’s cold outside, and it’s that time of year when the roads can get slick and road conditions can make it hard to get to work. Fortunately, American Fidelity has created a plan that helps keep Colleagues safe while providing benefits to both Colleagues and the Company. American Fidelity needed a way to continue serving our Customers around the country even when inclement weather hits our headquarters in Oklahoma City. The Company also continuously looks for ways to make AFA an Employer of Choice for our Colleagues. As a result, several years ago we began implementing a telecommuting program. The telecommuting program includes active and disaster telecommuters. Active telecommuters work from home at least once a week. Depending on their specific job duties, they may be able to work from home more often. Disaster telecommuters work from home at least once a month and are prepared to work remotely in case of inclement weather. This allows us to keep our Home Office open even during bad weather by allowing these Colleagues to work from home. Colleagues have all the tools they need to serve Customers at their fingertips so Customers can’t tell a difference. The perks of the program go far beyond snow days. Most telecommuting Colleagues report higher levels of productivity and appreciate the benefit of not having to commute as often.
