Lacey Bates Lacey Bates was nearly speechless when Jeff “The Magic Man” Roberts burst into a staff meeting at Piedmont’s Stone Ridge Elementary to announce that she has been voted the American Fidelity-KMGL Teacher of the Year! I was proud to be on hand to represent American Fidelity as we recognized this fantastic second-grade teacher. Mrs. Bates was one of nearly 30 teachers recognized this school year through the radio station’s Teacher Feature. Listeners selected her as the Teacher of the Year in online voting. American Fidelity joined forces with the Magic 104 Teacher Feature program in 2009. In the past six years, we’ve recognized more than 150 educators who are making a difference in the lives of their students. It’s truly an honor to be able to personally thank some of the teachers who are working so hard to educate the leaders of tomorrow. They work tirelessly to ensure their students love coming to school and are learning as much as they can. Often, the teachers are praised for incorporating a wide variety of learning styles and activities. Thank you to all of my teachers who instilled in me a love of learning and reading. Now, I especially appreciate all of my child’s teachers who work with her daily. Where would we be without you all!
