When you’re stressed, do you reach for a bag of cookies or candy? Or turn to comfort foods like macaroni and cheese, pizza and fried chicken? Or maybe you rely on sugary, caffeinated pop to get you through the day? Yeah, me too. When I get stressed or am extra busy, I tend to grab a candy bar and a soft drink to get me through the day. It’s hard to change these habits overnight, but AFA is helping our Colleagues learn how to address the psychological reasons they make poor eating choices and how to make a change. AFA offers a Colleague Assistance Plan (CAP) that provides numerous resources to help Colleagues with wellness, buying a house, finding child care, reducing stress and much more. A representative from our CAP will be on-site today teaching our Colleagues how to stop stress eating. This class will teach Colleagues to identify triggers for emotional eating, the difference between emotional and physiological hunger and coping mechanisms. And, they’ll develop an action plan for overcoming stress eating. This is just one of the many ways we help Colleagues get and stay healthy. What kinds of wellness classes would you like your employer to offer? Let us know in the comments!
