July 4th Independence Day is just around the corner and I’m excited to spend the weekend with family and friends. It’s even better because we get an extra day to our celebrating! Do you have plans to celebrate yet? Check out some of the great events going on in the OKC metro area this weekend! Bethany – The Bethany Freedom Festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with a parade at SNU that ends in Eldon Lyon Park. Visitors can enjoy carnival rides and games until 9:55 p.m. when one of the largest digitally mastered fireworks displays in the state starts. The festival is located in the 7400 block of NW 36th Street. EdmondLibertyFest in Edmond was selected as one of the top 10 places to be in America on July 4th by CNN & USA Today. The grand finale of LibertyFest will be the Fireworks and entertainment the evening of July 4th. The Fireworks display is the largest in the Oklahoma City metro area. Fireworks will start at 9:30 p.m. at the UCO Campus. El Reno – Freedom Fest will take over Lake El Reno with activities like face panting, inflatables and live music. The fun starts at 4 p.m. and the fireworks show will begin at sundown. Midwest City – The Tribute to Liberty event will be held in Joe B. Barnes Regional Park with live music and fireworks, beginning at 9:45 p.m. MooreA Celebration in the Heartland will be held from 10:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. at Buck Thomas Park. The event will feature food vendors, inflatables, arts and craft vendors, wineries, music and more! The City of Moore is excited to conclude this event with a huge Fireworks Show on the 4th at dark. Norman – The Norman Day Celebration kicks off at 1:00 p.m. at Reaves Park with fireworks at 9:45 p.m. There will be inflatables, pony rides, money count jar, nickel find, apple pie contest, 3-legged race, hot dog eating contest, toddler trot & baby crawl, food, bands, fireworks and more! Oklahoma City – The Red, White & Boom celebration kicks off at the State Fair park on Friday, July 3. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic will present a live concert at 8:30 p.m. with a fireworks show at 10 p.m. Yukon – Come join the City and Chisholm Trail Parks for Freedom Fest, which features a kids’ craft area, a car show, parade, entertainers, FREE watermelon and ice cream, a sand volleyball tournament and a large fireworks display to cap off the day. Day activities are held inside Yukon City Park, 2200 S. Holly Ave., while evening activities are held inside Chisholm Trail Park, 500 W. Vandament Avenue from 8 a.m.–11 p.m. How are you planning to celebrate July 4th?
