Most larger companies have a training department – American Fidelity has two. We have a Corporate Training department and a Field Training department. Corporate Training focuses on training our Home Office Colleagues in Oklahoma City. Our Field Training department works with our field sales Colleagues. I sat down with one of our field trainers to learn more about what it’s like to work on that team. “We train our field Colleagues – the people who consult our Customers regarding their benefits,” said Sarah Williams. “We provide onboarding and ongoing training to Colleagues about the Company, our products and sales strategy.” American Fidelity’s field team works in 49 states. They consult with employers about what benefits and services they should provide to their employees and then they work with individual employees to find the best solutions for their specific needs. “Our field team is fun to work with. They are funny, approachable and willing to learn,” said Sarah. “We help them feel more confident and prepared to do their jobs, which helps them build relationships with Customers and gives them the skills they need to best serve Customers.” The team hosts a live online product school for new field Colleagues, then brings them to Oklahoma City for Account Manager School to help them learn about the sales process and the various departments who will assist them throughout their careers. Webinars and other online training methods are also used for continuing education. The field trainers also travel in the field to train Colleagues and to see how the field works so they can continue to improve their training programs. After all, who better understands the importance of continuous learning than a trainer? “No two days are the same and I love the challenge of constantly learning new things,” said Sarah. “We’re looking for people who enjoy learning, are self-motivated, aren’t afraid of a challenge and love working on a team. Our team collaborates regularly to help ensure we’re designing the best training programs possible.” Want to join Sarah and the field training team?
