VolunteerShirt2013(Final) Can you believe the end of March is already here? On Wednesday, we usher in the month of April, and along with it a plethora of activities that our Colleagues will support in the community. Here’s a look at some of the happenings supported by our Company and Colleagues. March 9 through May 12 – We’ll be lacing up our bowling shoes to help raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma during Bowl for Kids' Sake. Several American Fidelity teams participate in the event each year. April 1 – Community Literacy Center’s Literacy Live luncheon. The annual fundraiser highlights the achievements of students in the adult literacy program while helping raise awareness and funding to help more adults learn to read or speak English. The event will explore the question, “What would you miss most” if you couldn’t read? April 2 – A pair of Colleagues will attend Cameron University President’s Partners Celebration. The President’s Partners support scholarships and other educational enhancements for the university in Lawton. April 11-12 – The Redbud Classic hits the streets to promote fun, fitness and philanthropy. The two-day event incorporates biking, running and other activities. This year’s beneficiary is the Boys and Girls Club of Oklahoma County. April 12 – Bald heads will show up around the American Fidelity Home Office following the annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser to support childhood cancer research. More than a half dozen Colleagues participate in the shaving event each year. April 26 – The Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon brings more than 25,000 participants from around the world to celebrate life in conjunction with the anniversary of the federal building bombing in Oklahoma City. Dozens of Colleagues run in the event or serve as volunteers for a water stop. Our Colleagues never shy away from getting involved in activities that improve the quality of life in our community. What are your favorite spring activities?
