American Fidelity Colleagues are proud of our commitment to the community, and we often look for ways that we can give back. One of our popular programs is Charity Jeans Day.
One Friday each month, our Colleagues pay $2 to wear jeans to work, and all proceeds go to charitable organizations. Best of all, the charities are picked by the Colleagues!
Each fall, we invite Colleagues to nominate their favorite charities to receive one month’s proceeds during the year. Usually, about 50 different charities are nominated. Then, a random drawing selects 11 charities from the list. (We always do a school supply drive in the summer to benefit Buchanan Elementary, our partner school, as one of the charity opportunities.)
We have some wonderful organizations on the list for 2013:
|Project 66 Community Food Pantry||January|
|No Boundaries International – Hope House||February|
|Oklahoma Interviewing Services Inc.||March|
|March of Dimes||April|
|National Alliance on Mental Illness||May|
|Buchanan School Supply Drive||June|
|Heart and Hand Ministries||July|
|The Bella Foundation||October|
|Citizens Caring for Children||November|
|Greater Oklahoma City Urban League||December|
Many Colleagues sign up for payroll deduction to automatically support the charities, while other Colleagues choose to pay by the month. This program has provided thousands of dollars to charities that are supported by our Colleagues. It’s so satisfying to know that working together we can have a positive impact on our community.
