Each month at AFA our Colleagues receive a wellness digest called eSmarts. eSmarts is a roundup of wellness-related articles, a Colleague spotlight, reminders and resources that are available to our Colleagues. Check out what we covered this month.
The Sitting Disease
The scientific community uses the term “sitting disease” in reference to metabolic syndrome and the ill-effects of an overly sedentary lifestyle.
Learn more about the sitting disease and see some alarming stats from Juststand.org.
To help prevent sitting disease in your life, make a point to get up and walk around at least once every hour and even when you don’t think you have time, stand up and stretch those legs. You’ll feel better physically and your mind will be able to focus better.
AFA Recognized by American Heart Association
AFA has been recognized as a Gold Fit-Friendly Workplace by the American Heart Association. The Fit-Friendly program recognizes employers who champion the health of their employees and work to create a culture of physical activity and health in the workplace.
Corporate Challenge 2015
Another Corporate Challenge is in the books for team AFA. Colleagues from across the Company competed in various events throughout the first weekend of June to help raise money for the UCO Endeavor Games.
We will find out tonight what place we came in, so be sure to watch social media for the results. In a few weeks we will be thanking our participants and volunteers at our own awards ceremony. Be watching Facebook and Twitter for photos!
