That’s why we go above and beyond to help Colleagues when they need to take care of themselves and their families. For example, in the U.S. companies are required to provide 12 weeks of family medical leave (FML). AFA recognizes that’s not always enough time, so we provide Colleagues employed at least six months with up to 16 weeks of FML for qualifying Colleagues. Many Colleagues on maternity leave use the extra time to ease their way back into working full time. On that note, AFA also provides resources for Colleagues who are expanding their families. We have a mothers’ lounge for nursing moms, offer flexible scheduling and work from home opportunities and give parents a personalized baby gift! Colleagues also have access to our Colleague Assistance Plan, which provides numerous educational resources about parenting and adoption, plus services such as child care and health care provider research. For the less joyful times, AFA provides up to 40 hours of paid bereavement leave to help full-time Colleagues make funeral arrangements, travel to the funeral and spend time with loved ones.
